Theta Phi Alpha

[edit]

Hello! I'm really glad that you've joined Wikipedia. I'm User:Naraht and I've been working on Fraternity and Sorority articles for a while. (I'm in Alpha Phi Omega) I have some comments on Theta Phi Alpha and List of Theta Phi Alpha chapters. I think these need to be changed, but like most other things on Wikipedia don't have to be done immediately.

I know you've put a lot of effort into putting the chapter websites onto the article, I've had articles that I've spent quite a bit of time on get removed at points, but I just hope that my comments help. I'm watching your page so you can reply here or at my page. Also Wikipedia:WikiProject Fraternities and Sororities isn't that active but there are a few experienced editors who do watch the talk page if you would like to get a third opinion on something (or a fourth or a fifth :) ) Again welcome!Naraht (talk) 12:18, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Theta Phi Alpha members

[edit]

It has been policy that membership in a Greek Letter Organization only represents a defining characteristic if they were either a founder or were an officer in that organization. Mentioning their membership appropriately is fine, including them in Category:Theta Phi Alpha is not. Good to see your enthusiasm though. :)Naraht (talk) 18:01, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The proper way to do this is that for say Tisha Terrasini Banker, add a sentence or a phrase indicating that she was a sister in Theta Phi Alpha and after that include <ref>[http://thetaphialpha.celect.org/distinguished-theta-phis Distinguished Theta Phis]</ref>.Naraht (talk) 18:07, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Theta Phi Alpha Mascot.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 15:05, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate that you want to improve Theta Phi Alpha, but there are those with a lot of knowledge about doing so for whom talking here or on Talk:Theta Phi Alpha probably would make things smoother.Naraht (talk) 15:26, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate that Theta Phi Alpha/Ms. Rubican owns the copyright for the book, it is reasonable for it to be cited as a book. But the url is still a valid part of referencing it.Naraht (talk) 02:07, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what to tell you. I was called by national office asking to not include the website link. As a sister, there really isn't too much I can do. Msnicolem (talk) 02:21, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What I think I've figured out... Given the fact that this appears to be Enivation's primary business, there is no way that Enivation wasn't contacted to do this. However, if the online book was intended to be private, I think Theta Phi Alpha failed, not Enivation. Essentially, the main page for Theta Phi Alpha's website (which google includes) has a link to the History book order form (which google includes) has a link to the Preview for the book, which links to the Enivation website, specifically the back cover and the entire book can be reached though links within the flip book so that's what google did. The entire history book was accessible on google before Wikipedia mentioned it at all. Does the national office have an objection to that? I'll be happy to talk to the Theta Phi Alpha national office if you think it would help.Naraht (talk) 01:41, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
